My Theory & Experience

The first time I started to formulate this theory was during a talk by an invited guest to our Church, Rehoboth Baptist Church in Rehoboth Massachusetts. The talk wasn't about the Star, but the subject did come up. He related that the current and best theory so far was that it was some sort of confluence of planets and stars. The instant he said that, I saw a picture in my mind of an asteroid briefly enter into a geosynchronous orbit at some distance from the earth, because we all know that the Star stopped. 

A confluence does not stop, because of the rotation of the Earth and it doesn't point to anything. After the talk I explained this to the guest and he thought it had merit. Boy was I excited! After blabbing it all over for several years I realized that it had a fatal flaw, it doesn't point to anything! I don't think anyone could even claim that they could pick out a state, let alone the house where Yeshua was, from a “Star” stopped overhead.   I thought about it for four or five years and I could not make it work.

Now I must explain an event that gave me the key to this puzzle. Understand the following event took place in ten or twelve seconds after leaving my car!   
 On the way home from work I was thinking about watching the Leonid Meteor shower that night, November 17 2015. I was beat, but decided to watch for 10 minutes or so. I pulled into the driveway, got out of the car and looked up about 75-80 degrees toward the east. At the very moment I looked up, right where I was looking, a ghostly object was crossing my field of view. It entered the far edge of the atmosphere and started to get brighter and faster. There were two shock waves. One on the leading edge and another one parallel, 10% back from the first. The second one was the edge of a very large crater that occupied about two thirds of the whole asteroid. It was almost round except for a hump at the 2 o'clock position. It got brighter, brightest at my twelve o'clock, then started to fade out as it left the atmosphere. It traversed about 90 degrees of sky, parallel with Brook street, perigee was at 90 degrees right over head! Here's the astounding part, I did a rough calculation that when I finally found out the height, it showed to be one mile in diameter at the very minimum, and may have been much larger! WOW! I ran into the house and made a report to the AIMS website, I wanted to be the first to log it. I spent a sleepless night waiting to read the headlines the next morning, “Northeast almost annihilated last night!”. To my astonishment there was no headline, no mention, no nothing! How could that have been missed? I sent emails to NASA and several observatories and they knew nothing about it. Was I the only one to see it? I got one reply explaining that it was probably a small meteor exploding at 100,000 feet. That, after giving a detailed description of the event!
 Two weeks went by. I was at my desk at work when it exploded into my mind. I kept thinking about where it went after I saw it, and realized that from my perspective, the farther away it got, the slower it would look from where I was. Then I remembered the “Star”. The asteroid was tangent to earth where it passed me, so I couldn't really follow it after it passed my field of view, but if I had been able to climb above the trees in my yard, I would have seen it get very bright as it left earths shadow and pass into the sunlight. It would also appear to slow down as it moved away.   
 If the “Star” passed the Earth at the right height, at the right time, it could actually “stop” over a house on a horizon. There is the answer! To demonstrate that, I made a scale model with the asteroid orbit and on another mount I made an Earth mount showing the rotation of the Earth. I took a video, and the Star stopped over a house and hovered over it. 

 
I then reread Mathew two. About 20 times. [ note. Further discussion]. I added the moon into the equation.     
 

 One has to explain why the wise men traveled to Jerusalem up to two years after the nativity. The wise men were astrologers and astronomers and most probably worshipers of the moon god. They would not travel to the west to see an asteroid slow down. From artifacts we can assume that the crescent moon/star combination was a cyclical event. They traveled to see that event. Mathew 2:10, “When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy”.  “ rejoiced exceedingly with great joy” before they even went into the house where Yeshua was. I added that to the theory because it fits the narrative and may be important when we try to discern what the whole event means.   
 Put yourself in their position: They follow the star for several hours and see it slow down and stop on the horizon. Exciting, but not definitive. Then they see the crescent appear very shortly after the star stops, the thing they were waiting for! “Exceedingly with great joy” really fits well. 

 When the idea first came to mind, I did a down and dirty Google Image Search , “the star and crescent in history” or something like that and came up with a page of artifacts from different periods of BC, the  oldest one was around 900 BC. I haven't been able to duplicate the same verbiage that brought up that result, but it is worth researching the dates to see if there is a pattern to the appearances. That may give us some answers to where it came from. The Leonid's have a period of 33 years. Other comets have varying orbital periods. Near Earth asteroids also have their own. From that information we may be able to ID the culprit.   
 So far we have a stopped star on the face of a crescent moon, right over the house Messiah was in. Here is the next big question: How did they know the “Where and When”? 

 There are at least two ways that the Wise Men could have discovered that they had to travel to the West to see the Star. Direct Revelation from God, or astronomical observation. As we have noted, this whole event was an attempt to kill Messiah. If it were a direct Revelation from God, that would give Satan's minions an excuse to ACCUSE God! I think this can be dismissed out of hand. Much more likely is that this was from astronomical observation:  The sun rises every day. We can absolutely count on it rising tomorrow! The moon is slightly more difficult. We know it will rise every day, but we also know that it changes it's relative position every day too. Along with that, we know the visible portion of the moon will change every day and it's position and phase can be calculated far into the future. A little more difficult yet are the meteor showers. The Leonid's are late November, but the densities fluctuate due to their relative position to the main body of the crumbled comet. The period of the Leonid's is 33-34 years. Far back, the Leonid's would have been noticed and shortly after it would be noted that they were a cyclical event associated with the late Fall. When men started to observe and worship Creation, instead of the Creator, these fluctuations would be noted and recorded. At some point, some mechanical genius figured out a way to make an analog computer to do the calculations!
